The Northeastern US and Canada on the Atlantic Ocean have some well-known and popular areas such as Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and the coast of Maine with Gloucester-the US’ oldest seaport, Plymouth Rock, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mystic and New Haven, Connecticut, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Long Island, New York. You’ll find resort towns and villages, some more affordable and those that are more expensive. They all have a certain traditional charm. Famous for spectacular fall colors, crab fishing and clam chowder, you can do some research on line and see what may appeal to you.
Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and North and South Carolina make up the central Atlantic coast and you will find many communities. Some of these are dry, meaning no alcohol, even a glass of wine on your rental front porch may be illegal, so be aware. Ocean City, MD has more than 100 hotels in varying prices and of course, so does Virginia Beach. North and South Carolina not only have exceptional beaches but beautiful golf resorts. Look up Oak Island or Cape Hatteras, North Carolina or Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head or Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Georgia and Florida have famous and well-traveled beaches. Sea Camp and Tybee Island in Georgia have activities for everyone. Florida is loved by young and old with beautiful cities, beaches, Disney Parks, Cape Canaveral and outstanding and diverse cultures. The top five Florida beaches include Clearwater, Key West, Palm Beach, Cocoa Beach and Key Largo. They all have beautiful sandy beaches for family activities. Do your own research and see which could be your new favorite. You can’t go wrong – It’s the Beach!
Hawaii is a true tropical paradise in the Pacific Ocean. Each of its islands boasts spectacular beaches, views and amenities. Maui, Honolulu, Kauai, Sugar Beach, Waikiki. Take your pick. It’s a popular destination for weddings and honeymoons. You will definitely find a favorite here.
The West Coast – Pacific Ocean offers beach towns from Vancouver Island, Washington, Oregon, California to Mexico and into Central America. You will be hard pressed to pick one favorite, but we did. We discovered Pismo Beach on the Central Coast. It’s a quiet, beautiful little beach town. No pretenses, but plenty of charm and comfort with friendly people and many lifelong residents. You can make a home here if you have a decent budget. The Butterfly Garden, Art shops and galleries, exceptional food and scenery and not far from Hearst Castle up Hwy 1 are some great amenities. Easy to get to LA or go inland for wineries. It’s a normal community with some great benefits and it’s beautiful beaches. Come for a visit at the Sea Gypsy Inn with a balcony right on the beach for a bargain price and pet friendly. Maybe we will see you at Harry’s Bar.
